Samsung Expands Its Micro RGB TV Range—All The Way Down To 55 Inches

The 2026 CES may still be weeks away, but it’s already becoming clear that the big TV story from the world’s largest technology show is going to be RGB mini-LED technology. Just a couple of days ago LG announced that it would be launching a three-strong range of TVs using its so-called Micro RGB take on the RGB mini-LED concept, and now we have Samsung going even further by announcing that it is going to be adding no less than five extra screen sizes to its Micro RGB range – including truly mainstream 55 and 65-inch models.

Samsung actually already launched its very first Micro RGB TV, the mighty 115-inch MRE115MR95F, in September 2025, at the IFA technology show. As well as being bigger than average living rooms might comfortably accommodate, though, that mammoth Micro RGB debutante costs $29,999/£24,999 at the time of writing, meaning it’s hardly a mass market proposition.

Given how impressive the MRE115MR95F looked during an extended hands on I had with it at the IFA show, then, AV fans will be excited to learn that the 115-inch model is going to be joined by much more manageable and, I assume, affordable 100-inch, 85-inch, 75-inch, 65-inch and 55-inch Micro RGB options.

Samsung hasn’t formally announced pricing on these extra Micro RGB screen sizes yet, but Samsung representatives sounded fairly confident during conversations at IFA that it would be able to deliver its more mainstream Micro RGB screen sizes at prices broadly in line with its current premium LCD TVs.

Certainly we shouldn’t expect to be faced with the sort of mortgage-requiring prices still required to get your hands on the similarly named Micro LED technology, which joins Micro RGB in using direct red, green and blue LEDs to illuminate pictures rather than passing white or blue backlights through filters or Quantum Dots, but requires the RGB LEDs to be small enough to operate on a pixel for pixel basis.

Samsung was keen to point out in the information it’s released on its expanded Micro RGB range five areas where it believes its take on RGB mini-LED technology can outperform its rivals (Hisense, TCL and Sony have all also announced that they will be launching RGB Mini-LED TVs in 2026). First, the Micro RGB name Samsung has used for its new TV technology is designed to reflect the fact that it uses smaller LEDs (under 100 micrometers) than most rival RGB mini-LED screens do, leading to increased RGB LED Backlight unit density to help deliver even more pure, accurate and dynamic colors than RGB mini-LED technology can innately do.

Samsung points secondly to the way the Micro RGB light source is partnered with enhanced RGB color dimming, to help produce more dynamic but also more consistent colors (as well as richer, more stable contrast). Samsung claims that the Micro RGB/enhanced RGB color dimming combination can deliver 100% coverage of even the AV world’s most extreme BT.2020 color gamut. A claim backed up by the independent VDE Testing and Certification Institute.

For the third claimed advantage of its Micro RGB TVs, Samsung points to its newly developed Micro RGB AI Engine Pro processor: An AI-bolstered chipset with tools that include Micro RGB Color Booster Pro and Micro RGB HDR Pro systems to enable more precise frame-by-frame clarity and realism.

Bye bye reflections

Samsung’s fourth claimed Micro RGB advantage comes from its proprietary Glare Free screen technology. Already renowned for its ability to suppress onscreen reflections on Samsung’s premium OLED and LCD TVs, Glare Free technology has the potential to be particularly effective at preserving the new level of color and contrast Micro RGB is claimed to produce.

Finally, the visual enhancements Samsung has developed for its Micro RGB range are joined by audio features that include Dolby Atmos playback; an Adaptive Sound Pro system for automatically optimising the way sound appears for different rooms and content types; support for the new Eclipsa audio spatial sound system; and Samsung’s Q Symphony feature, where the TV’s speakers can join forces with those in Samsung soundbars, rather than being silenced when a soundbar is detected.

Samsung’s new Micro RGB TVs will be on show at the brand’s CES booth through from Jan 6-9, and I’ll be posting further updates on these and other 2026 Samsung TVs as and when more details become available.
