PlatinumGames and Xbox Game Studios have announced that Ninja Gaiden 4 is getting DLC on March 4, called The Two Masters. It’ll cost $14.99. Those who’ve already purchased the Deluxe Edition or the Deluxe Upgrade will have access to this DLC automatically.
This is quite the substantial update, as it will include three new chapters that you can play through after completing the main story. Additionally, both Yakumo and Ryu will gain new weapons in the form of the Solitaire scythe and the Jakotsumon gauntlets, respectively. I’m glad that we’ll be able to spend some more time with Yakumo and Ryu. Ryu’s playable segments in Ninja Gaiden 4 felt like retreads, so I’m hoping that the new levels will redeem him.
There will also be an endurance-style mode called Abyssal Road, where you’ll have to fight through 100 unique combat encounters. A new Special Blood Essence and Frenzied enemy mechanics will be introduced as well.
Don’t forget quality-of-life fixes! Xbox said that balance adjustments, bug fixes, and new weapon set customizations will be implemented along with this update. Ninja Gaiden 4 was already pretty smooth at launch, but things should run even better after this update.
Between the story content, new weapons, and the new mode, there’s no better time to jump into (or back in) to Ninja Gaiden 4. I wrote my review over at Mashable, and gave it a 4.25/5. It’s a fantastic addition to the Game Pass library that you should check out if you’re a subscriber. Ninja Gaiden 4 is also available on PC and PS5.
