Last week, charts in many Western nations such as the United States and the United Kingdom were flush with debuts connected to Record Store Day. Dozens of well-known artists released new material, previously unheard recordings, or shared fan favorites on vinyl, turning them into collectibles – ones that were only available in record stores and based on relatively small quantities that were pressed for a limited time.
Just days later, rankings in the U.K. and the U.S. are much freer, as many of those strong sellers have disappeared. There’s now plenty of room for titles that typically appear on albums and singles charts to return – in some cases, on multiple rankings. In the U.K., Bon Jovi rocks back onto a pair of tallies with a beloved compilation.
Bon Jovi’s Greatest Hits Returns to Two U.K. Charts
Bon Jovi’s Greatest Hits currently appears on three lists in the U.K., and it finds its way back to all but one of them. The compilation reenters the Official Album Downloads chart at No. 80. At the same time, the set narrowly manages to break back onto the Official Albums tally, which ranks the most-consumed projects regardless of format or genre. On that rundown, Greatest Hits is back at No. 99, in second-to-last place.
Bon Jovi’s Greatest Hits Climbs on the Streaming List
Bon Jovi’s compilation improves slightly on the third and last roster on which it appears, where it also found space last time around. Greatest Hits pushes from No. 98 to No. 92 on the Official Albums Streaming tally, which focuses entirely on the most-played collections on platforms such as Spotify, Apple Music, and others.
Bon Jovi’s Two Different Greatest Hits Collections
Two different titles labeled Greatest Hits by Bon Jovi have appeared on all three charts where the set currently lands. The first take arrived on the Official Albums and Official Album Downloads charts in 2010 and rose to No. 2 on the main list and No. 5 on the download-specific roster.
The version that is present at the moment didn’t debut until several years later. The more recent and current Greatest Hits launched on the Official Albums chart in May 2024 and appeared on the Official Album Downloads list just under a year prior in July 2023.
Greatest Hits – Both of Them – Hit the Streaming Chart
Bon Jovi has only placed two projects on the Official Albums Streaming chart, and both are named Greatest Hits. The first launched in June 2019 and peaked at No. 58. The current Greatest Hits arrived in the summer of 2023 and so far has only soared to No. 73.
Bon Jovi’s Newer Greatest Hits Trails the Original
The second version of Bon Jovi’s Greatest Hits has not performed nearly as well on either ranking where it returns, and it has never come close to outpacing the original on the Official Album Downloads tally. The more recent of the two Greatest Hits pushed to No. 13, but it only ever rocked as high as No. 55 on the Official Albums chart.
Bon Jovi’s Longevity on the Charts with Greatest Hits
Between the three rosters where Greatest Hits makes a home this frame, it has spent the most time on the Official Albums Streaming chart. That makes sense, since continued plays of many of the singles featured on its track list – which don’t ebb and flow nearly as much as purchases – likely play a major role in the title landing on other rosters as well.
Greatest Hits only needs two more turns before it celebrates its first year on the streaming tally. It’s up to just 12 stays on the Official Albums chart and three dozen on the Official Album Downloads roster.
“Livin’ On A Prayer” and “You Give Love A Bad Name” Continue
Bon Jovi claims just one charting album at the moment – though it lives on a trio of charts – and two hit songs, “Livin’ On A Prayer” and “You Give Love A Bad Name,” which are featured on Greatest Hits, land on the Official Rock and Metal Singles chart. The first holds at No. 8, while the latter improves slightly to No. 24.
