BTS Scores Yet Another No. 1 Bestseller

When BTS released its most recent album Arirang, the vast majority of listeners around the world heard 14 tracks. Those songs were available on the first, original version of the group’s comeback set – its first in years since the seven members took time apart from the boy band to fulfill their mandatory military enlistment in South Korea and pursue solo careers – but die-hard followers were aware of another cut.

“Come Over” was initially only available on a deluxe vinyl version of Arirang. Months after the full-length dropped and conquered charts around the world, “Come Over” was recently released for purchase on download storefronts and to play on streaming sites. The track debuts on multiple tallies in the United Kingdom this time around, and even manages to net the South Korean troupe another champion.

BTS Rules With “Come Over”

BTS rules the Official Singles Downloads chart this week as “Come Over” kicks off its time inside the top spot. The K-pop outfit replaces “I Knew It, I Knew You” by Taylor Swift, which opened at the summit only a few days ago, and which drops to third place. BTS keeps “Movin’ to the Sun,” a rising dance track by Hugel, Imael Angel, and Ultra Naté, from becoming the top-selling smash on download storefronts as it advances from No. 5 to second place.

BTS Scores Its Seventh Downloads Chart No. 1

BTS has now scored seven rulers on the Official Singles Downloads chart in the U.K. After racking up dozens of hits, the troupe’s “On” finally became its first champion in March 2020. It was only a few months ago, back in April, that “Swim,” the lead single from Arirang, gave BTS one more ruler. That laidback electronic tune has spent four of its 12 weeks on the Official Singles Downloads tally in the penthouse.

BTS Claims 18 Top 10 Hits

Since first scoring a download smash almost a decade ago in October 2016, when “Blood, Sweat & Tears” debuted at No. 94, BTS has collected a total of 84 smashes on the roster. 18 of those tracks – a sum that grows as “Come Over” debuts – have spent time within the top 10.

“Swim” Returns to Multiple Charts in the U.K.

As “Come Over” debuts, “Swim” simultaneously returns to multiple rankings across the Atlantic. The first Arirang track breaks back onto both the Official Singles Downloads and Official Singles Sales tallies, settling at Nos. 84 and 87, respectively. The former leader has now spent an even dozen frames on those two related rundowns.

Arirang Improves on Three Albums Charts

Arirang, meanwhile, improves its standing on three of the four U.K. rosters where it lives, perhaps due to the excitement around the release of “Come Over.” Arirang grows on both the Official Physical Albums and Official Albums Sales tallies, lifting to Nos. 25 and 26, respectively. BTS’s most recent full-length nearly matches that performance on the Official Albums roster, where it pushes from No. 37 to No. 31. The latest from the K-pop favorites only manages to lose ground on the Official Albums Streaming chart, where it steps back from No. 37 to No. 39.
