The KPMG Women’s PGA Championship announced on Monday that it was raising the purse for the event to $13 million, setting a new record purse in women’s golf.

The event has seen the purse raised every year for nine consecutive years. The largest increase the event has ever seen came in 2022 when the prize purse hit $9 million, doubling the previous seasons purse. The $13 million this year tops the $12.5 million purse at this year’s U.S. Women’s Open at Riviera Country Club.

This year’s KPMG Women’s PGA Championship is back at Hazeltine National Golf Club this year in Chaska, Minnesota. The event features the strongest field in women’s golf and a fantastic storyline as world number one player, Nelly Korda, looks to win her third straight major to start the season and keep her Grand Slam hopes alive.

Tim Walsh, the U.S. chair and CEO for KPMG stated this week about the tournament, “We’re proud to deliver the premier major on the LPGA Tour, Working with the PGA of America and the LPGA Tour, we’re combining a record purse with technology that gives players better, real-time insight into their performance, along with broader, more dynamic coverage for fans. It’s all about continuing to build momentum for women’s golf.”
