We have spent decades learning how sharks live, hunt and reproduce. But if we want to conserve them, we also need to understand the humans sharing their oceans. A new scoping review of 171 peer-reviewed studies reveals what we know about people’s perceptions, attitudes, behaviours and experiences with sharks, and perhaps more importantly, what we still do not know.
