The patch notes for Escape From Tarkov update 0.15.5.0 have been released and while the expected Unity 2022 engine update is nowhere to be seen, there are some new weapons to play with and some major quality of life improvements when it comes to sorting your inventory.
The new Escape From Tarkov patch notes were released as the patch installation process kicked off, which is expected to last around eight hours. Such a long downtime led many to think we would be getting the long promised engine upgrade, but based on the patch notes that doesn’t seem to be the case.
Instead, the big new addition comes in the form of two new shotguns to play with. The MPS Auto Assault-12 Gen 1 and Gen 2 automatic shotguns have been added, which seem like fun additions. We’ll likely get a bit of a look at these in the TarkovTV stream later today, which will likely take place as the patch goes live.
The other big change comes to the inventory, and after years of asking, the ability to pin and lock items so they do not move when you sort your stash has finally been added. This means you can lock your big containers in a set place, and then hit the sort button to sort the rest of the items will be sorted but not the pinned items.
Another quality of life change comes with the ability to interact with your stash, the flea market or your character screen while searching for a match. With matchmaking times sometimes running above five minutes, this should make the wait a little more bearable.
The other changes in the patch notes come in the form of the fall weather season being added and some improvements to the map to map travel that was added last patch. There’s also a massive list of bug fixes that should make life a bit easier for everyone.
With the engine upgrade nowhere to be seen, all eyes now turn to the TarkovTV stream due later today for an update on what is happening with it. The upgrade has been in testing for a while, so no launch in certainly a surprise. There’s also no word on any Halloween event in the patch notes, but I’m expecting that to be dropped alongside the patch anyway. The TarkovTV stream kicks off at 3:30 PM GMT / 11:30 AM EDT on Twitch.
