TGIF, dearest Wordlers! TGIF. I have had a busy week, though it’s probably felt busier than it actually was simply because I’ve been hitting the gym so hard, which has made me sore and tired. Achy and exhausted! But I have to make use of my motivation when I have it, and right now I’m highly motivated to get into the best shape I’ve ever been in, because we only get one life and I don’t want to waste it being sedentary and overweight. So it’s OrangeTheory high-intensity interval training, hot yoga and hiking for now. I may add in even more weight-lifting when I feel ready for it. And in-between all of that, well there are puzzles to solve! Let’s solve today’s Wordle! Oh, and it’s 2XP Friday so double your points if you play Competitive Wordle!

Wordle Analysis
Every day I check Wordle Bot to help analyze my guessing game. You can check your Wordles with Wordle Bot right here.
TRADE was a pretty good opening guess—2 green boxes and only 23 solutions remaining!—but I squandered it from there. BOINK only slashed my options to 6 and GROPE only cut that number in half. Luckily, PROSE was a good fourth guess and got me the Wordle in four!
Competitive Wordle Score
I get 0 points for guessing in four and -1 for losing to the Bot. -1 x2 = -2 this Friday. Bummer!
How To Play Competitive Wordle
- Guessing in 1 is worth 3 points; guessing in 2 is worth 2 points; guessing in 3 is worth 1 point; guessing in 4 is worth 0 points; guessing in 5 is -1 points; guessing in 6 is -2 points and missing the Wordle is -3 points.
- If you beat your opponent you get 1 point. If you tie, you get 0 points. And if you lose to your opponent, you get -1 point. Add it up to get your score. Keep a daily running score or just play for a new score each day.
- Fridays are 2XP, meaning you double your points—positive or negative.
- You can keep a running tally or just play day-by-day. Enjoy!
Today’s Wordle Etymology
The word “prose” originates from the Latin term “prosa”, which is short for “prosa oratio” meaning “straightforward speech” or “direct discourse.” The Latin word prosa itself derives from “proversus”, a combination of “pro-“ (forward) and “vertere” (to turn), implying something that moves or flows directly without the structured patterns of poetry. This reflects the plain and unadorned style of prose writing, contrasting with the rhythmic and metrical structure of verse.
