A pretty exciting crossover between Call Of Duty and Netflix’s mega-hit Korean dystopian drama, Squid Game, is in the works. The second season of Squid Game drops right after Christmas, so that’s just a few weeks away.
The Call Of Duty crossover event lands in January, so whatever crazy games and twists and turns await in Season 2 will be fresh on our minds. I’m excited for this crossover because Call Of Duty often includes more than just skins and cosmetics in their crossovers. We’re likely going to get some kind of gameplay crossover as well.
The possibilities, as they say, are endless.
Imagine special maps designed with some of Squid Game’s notorious—and deadly—traps and puzzles, or a section in Warzone that’s designed after the Squid Game location. There will also almost certainly be cosmetics to earn and skins in the shop, but combining those with the show’s themes and locations could really be cool.
I mean, imagine this is your squad:
Squid Game? More like Squad Game!
I mean, okay, realistically Squid Game is so dark and horrible it’s hard to say “cool” without thinking of all the awful stuff that goes down in the series, but I do think this will be fun. Of course, all we know about it so far is what we’ve seen in this teaser trailer, and that isn’t much.
You can see the Call Of Duty Operator investigating a scene of violence. He picks up the card, which shows the three Squid Game icons on it—a circle, triangle and square, which is so ironically close to a PlayStation symbol it’s kind of funny, given Microsoft’s acquisition of Activision and Call Of Duty.
In any case, we should know more before the January release. We also have the midseason update just around the corner with more maps, a new Zombies level and other content. The Squid Game release should fall close to Season 2, if not alongside Season 2’s release.
