The next major iPhone software release is iOS 18.4 (unless there’s a bug-squisher in between). Apple rarely announces in advance when a big update is on its way, but it just did: it’s set for April.
In a Newsroom update about Apple Intelligence coming to the Apple Vision Pro—full details here—it was revealed that there is a new app for the iPhone on its way, and Apple confirmed that it will arrive with iOS 18.4 and stated when it would come.
The New App: Apple Vision Pro App For iPhone
The new app is called the Apple Vision Pro App for iPhone and it will be available to Vision Pro owners and those who don’t own the headset alike.
“Starting in April, Apple Vision Pro users will be able to queue apps and games to download, discover new spatial content and experiences, easily find helpful tips, and quickly access information about their device from their iPhone with the new Apple Vision Pro app. The app will appear for Vision Pro users when they update their iPhone to iOS 18.4, and it can also be downloaded from the App Store,” Apple said.
This is intriguing. Apple almost never sets the date, even the month, at this time in the software cycle.
And it means that those of us who were hoping that iOS 18.4, which is expected to have new Apple Intelligence features including some for Siri, would arrive as soon as March now have our expectations set.
The app will contain a My Vision Pro page, for those who have the headset, with tips, access to details like the visionOS version and device serial number and more.
It’ll appear automatically if you have a Vision Pro. “The Apple Vision Pro app for iPhone will be available with iOS 18.4. The app will be available to download from the App Store, and will automatically appear on a user’s iPhone once they update to iOS 18.4 and have both devices associated with the same Apple Account,” Apple explains.
