Apple is preparing a surprise new iPhone upgrade that could arrive any minute now. Just two weeks after the launch of iOS 17.3, MacRumors has detected that Apple is testing a new software version, iOS 17.3.1.
With a month to go until the launch of iOS 17.4, the iPhone maker is probably using iOS 17.3.1 to iron out any bugs and security issues.
The last upgrade that arrived in between major iPhone updates was iOS 17.2.1—the exact contents of which still remains a mystery.
However, before that came iOS 17.1.2, an emergency update fixing security issues already being used in real-life attacks. This makes iOS 17.3.1 an upgrade worth looking out for and applying as soon as possible.
What’s In The iOS 17.3.1 Update?
Apple has not revealed anything about what’s in iOS 17.3.1, but we are safe to assume the iPhone update will include bug squashing and security fixes. At the current time, it’s more important than ever to keep your iPhone secure.
Apple’s popular device is vulnerable to multiple security threats—including spyware, which can get onto iPhones via an iMessage that you don’t even notice. These so-called “zero-click” attacks are usually very targeted, but Apple is very good at staying ahead of them.
The iOS 17.3.1 update could also include fixes for any iPhone bugs present in iOS 17.3. While I’ve not come across any issues with the latest software update myself, some people have had issues with battery drain, so watch this space.
When Will iOS 17.3.1 Arrive?
Apple’s iOS 17.3.1 update will be arriving soon—probably some time next week. These days it’s not unusual to see a Monday update, so it could arrive on 12 February, 13 February or 14 February. There is also a small possibility it will be released this week.
