Japanese brand Audio-Technica has unveiled the latest iteration of its fashion-forward true wireless earbuds. Designed to suit modern lifestyles with a lightweight feel and a stylish finish, these affordable earbuds are ideal for music, movies or games.
Smaller and lighter than the original ATH-SQ1TW, the next-generation ATH-SQ1TW2 are Audio-Technica’s most compact and earbuds to date. With a compact and square build, the ATH-SQ1TW2 are available in four finishes: Jet Black, Pure White, Navy/Red and Forest Green.
The earbuds are the entry point to the Audio-Technica range and feature 5.8mm drivers that the company claims have powerful low frequencies and sparkling trebles, all in a neat package.
Thanks to a low-latency mode, the ATH-SQ1TW2 will suit gamers, social media scrollers and movie buffs. The low-latency mode means videos and games can be played with no noticeable sound delay, bringing audio and video synchronized when playing gaming effects and movie soundtracks.
Multipoint pairing enables two devices to be connected to the ATH-SQ1TW2 at once, so there’s no danger of missing smartphone calls if you are listening to music on your laptop or digital audio player.
Easily accessible ambient control functions let surrounding sounds pass through to the earbuds, with a hear-through function for continual ambient awareness and a talk-through function for listening out for travel announcements or even eavesdropping.
Audio-Technical claims the ATH-SQ1TW2 can provide clear hands-free calls, even if using a single earbud. Optimally placed and tuned microphones suppress ambient noise, including wind, while the Audio-Technica Connect app offers a sidetone function so you can hear your voice when making phone or video calls for more natural-sounding conversations.
A full battery charge of the earbuds provides 6.5 hours of continuous playback time, while the storage case holds an additional 13.5 hours of backup charge bringing the total playing time to 20 hours before the case needs recharging. The ATH-SQ1TW2 earbuds come with four sizes of soft silicone ear tips, making them comfortable to wear for long journeys.
The earbuds can be recharged via a USB-C cable or any Qi-compatible wireless charging mat. Transparent cut-outs on the lid provide an instant view of the earbuds. The earbuds are also water-washable thanks to an IPX5-equivalent environmental rating.
