Today, Audio-Technica is celebrating 50 years of making headphones and to mark the occasion, the company is releasing the ATH-ADX3000 high-fidelity open-back headphones which are handmade in Japan.

Handcrafted in Machida, Tokyo, each pair of the new headphones has been assembled from components that are made in-house and tested by the brand’s team of engineers. Paying homage to Japan’s tradition for craftsmanship, the new ATH-ADX3000 are also a tribute to Audio-Technica’s six decades of audio production.

Building on the success of the brand’s highly regarded open-back ATH-ADX5000 headphones launched in 2017, the ATH-ADX3000 are said to offer a natural and authentic soundstage, enabling users to experience audio as it’s meant to be heard. The high-quality exposed drivers let air flow without restriction which helps eliminate unwanted distortion during playback.

The ATH-ADX3000 headphones have a lightweight design for the most comfortable listening sessions. To do this, the company’s engineers assemble each component to produce a minimalistic finish.

Lead engineer Hiromichi Ozawa says: “Our engineers worked hard to achieve frequencies that are not easy to obtain with natural airflow. Our expertise in driver technology has influenced our approach to open-back headphones, enabling us to ensure the diaphragm moves with the purest motion.”

The exposed drivers in the ATH-ADX3000 have a free flow of air around them, characteristic of classic open-back designs, providing a more natural listening experience while also eliminating unwanted distortion.

Weighing just 257g, these minimalistic headphones with their highly breathable design are designed for long listening sessions. The drivers are designed to deliver the purest sound with realistic sound staging and imaging as each diaphragm movement translates into an instant sound with frequencies not being artificially produced nor enhanced with acoustic cavities and resonance.

Audio-Technica’s Core Mount Technology, introduced in 2017 with the ATH-ADX5000 open-air dynamic headphones, directly integrates the driver into the baffle of the headphones for an optimal position that improves airflow and enhances the full range of audio reproduction.

Pricing & Availability: The new Audio-Technica ATH-ADX3000 headphones are available from today priced at £859 / €999.
