Activision is beginning its marketing push for 2024’s upcoming Call Of Duty, the first in the series to come day-one to Xbox Game Pass for free. The new game is likely called Black Ops 6 (or maybe Black Ops IIIIII if they’re feeling mischievous).

Today, a mysterious new site appeared with an old boxy CCTV-style television set. The website is www.thetruthlies.com and its tagline is “Open your eyes. The truth lies.”

At the time of this writing, there are six channels available to scroll through on the TV (as in Black Ops 6). Currently the first two have found footage style scenes. The first shows a vandalized Mount Rushmore with the presidential statue’s eyes painted over with “The Truth Lies” and a strange symbol. The second shows someone putting up posters with the same slogan and images of Mount Rushmore. The rest of the channels are static. You can turn the power off to hear some very ominous music. You can also download each clip from each channel.

It seems obvious that four more of these brief teasers will be released, probably throughout the day or perhaps next couple days. We will likely get a full trailer and the game’s official title, artwork, release date and more at the Xbox Showcase on June 9th. Insider Gaming has stated the game will release October 25th but that has not been officially confirmed. Others have guessed November 1st. It seems likely the new game will release within that window, which is common for the franchise.

The new teasers correspond closely with yesterday’s release of XDefiant, the new Call Of Duty competitor from Ubisoft. I’ll have more to say on that game once I’ve played it a bit more. I have mixed feelings so far.

The current set of Black Ops 6 teasers are likely what was referred to as “SALLY 6” in leaked info from dataminers a few weeks ago. There’s also this very blurred-out keyart leaked (and blurred out by) video game leaker @billbil-kun which looks . . . like most of the Black Ops keyart we’ve seen over the years.

Stay tuned, and stay frosty.
