The second weekend of the Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 beta is almost here, and this time around it’s open to everybody whether or not you’ve pre-ordered the game or have Xbox Game Pass. It’s free to download and play, and includes even more content than the first weekend.

Read on to find out everything you need to know about this final beta and the game’s launch date and upcoming content.

When Does The Weekend 2 Beta Start And End?

The Weekend 2 Open Beta goes live on Friday, September 6th at 10am PT / 1pm ET and runs through Monday, September 9th at 10am PT / 1pm ET. This could change depending on various factors, but it’s unlikely.

What Are The Download Sizes And Can You Preload?

If you already have Call Of Duty HQ installed—which is required for Modern Warfare III and Warzone—the beta download size is a lot smaller and is simply included as a required update to your game. If you don’t have that installed, you’ll need to install it. You can see the size in GB in the below chart:

What You’ll Play

The beta will feature a number of Operators, guns, lethals, tacticals, Scorestreaks and more when it launches and will raise the level cap from Weekend 1’s Level 20 to Level 30 for the Open Beta. This means you’ll unlock a bunch more stuff and have more time to level up guns.

Important to note: Other than the rewards you unlock (see below) none of your progress will carry over to the main game.

Here are the maps available in Weekend 2. The maps in BOLD are new additions that were not available in the closed beta.

Core Maps

  • Derelict
  • Scud
  • Skyline
  • Rewind
  • Babylon

Strike Maps

Game Modes

  • Team Deathmatch
  • Domination
  • Hardpoint
  • Kill Order
  • Face Off Team Deathmatch
  • Face Off Kill Confirmed
  • Face Off Kill Order
  • Gunfight (2v2)

I have now played almost all of these maps since I played prior to the beta. The only one I haven’t played is the Strike map Stakeout. So far, I’m very impressed with all of Black Ops 6’s maps, which are all small-to-midsize with different takes on the traditional 3-lane map. The new Core map Babylon is a desert map with a very small arena with one central point in the middle of what is effectively a pretty close-quarters, square-shaped map that lends itself to lots of intense close-up action.

And here is the Stakeout small map:

This map is described as a Mediterranean apartment where you’ll battle it out in various rooms—the living room, kitchen, bedrooms—and out onto the balconies.

In terms of modes, you’ll still be playing the popular Team Deathmatch, Hardpoint and Domination and the Bounty-variant Kill Order, which has each team hunting down the enemy team’s armored High Value Target (HVT), is coming to the small Face Off playlist, which should be good hectic fun.

I have a separate piece on my impressions of the game’s multiplayer and Zombies content and will be posting my impressions of the new Area 99 Warzone Resurgence map soon. That map will launch alongside Season 1 of Black Ops 6. After playing the Weekend 1 beta extensively, my early impressions remain the same: This is a very fast, very polished game with great movement, excellent sound design and a fun arsenal of weaponry to try out. I’m very excited to try out Gunfight on these maps, as I think it will be a really exciting mode with all the new movement systems. This is what a Call Of Duty with four years of development looks like.
