Nvidia has confirmed that Civilization VII will be coming to its streaming service GeForce Now on the game’s launch day, February 11.

The highly anticipated strategy game, likely to be one of the biggest gaming releases of 2025, has already been confirmed for day one release on a wide sweep of platforms, including PC, Mac, Xbox, PlayStation, Nintendo Switch and the Steam Deck. But the arrival of Civilization VII on the streaming service will ease some gamers’ anxiety that their PC won’t cope with the new game.

Gamers don’t have to wait until February 11 to get their first taste of Civilization VII. Buyers of the Deluxe and Founders editions of the game will get early access from February 6, but it won’t appear on GeForce Now until the official launch five days later. Civilization VII System Requirements

To benefit from the “Ultra” graphics quality (4K resolution at 60 frames per second), Civilization VII requires an Intel Core i7-14700F or AMD Ryzen 9 5950X or better, plus at least an Nvidia GeForce RTX 4070 or AMD Radeon RX 7800 XT. The PC would also need 32GB of RAM.

Those are punchy requirements, although ones that should be met by GeForce Now’s Ultimate tier, which uses RTX 4080 graphics. The bad news is that GeForce Now is currently at capacity in some regions, so you may have to wait for access.

The minimum system requirements for Civilization VII are much lighter, with an Intel i5-4690/Intel i3-10100/AMD Ryzen 3 1200 processor, Nvidia GTX 1050/AMD RX 460/Intel Arc A380 graphics and 8GB of RAM stipulated. That will only get you Full HD resolution at 30 frames per second, however.

The fact the game is able to run on the handheld Steam Deck does suggest that it should run on a lot of recent PC hardware, though.

On the Mac, the minimum requirements listed on Steam are M1 graphics paired with 8GB of RAM, although the recommended spec is M2 Pro with 16GB of RAM.

GeForce Now February Launches

The arrival of Civilization VII is definitely the landmark release for GeForce Now in February, which marks the streaming service’s fifth birthday.

However, it’s only one of 19 releases that Nvidia has announced for the month. The list also includes Kingdom Come Deliverance II (February 4), Alan Wake (no date confirmed), SWORN (February 6) and Somerville (no date confirmed).
