In case you missed Friday’s NYT Mini, you can find the answers here:
Wondering what the “S” in iOS stands for? Not sure what kind of gathering is held roughly every five years? Don’t worry, because I’m here to help you with the answers for today’s NYT Mini crossword.
The NYT Mini is a quick and dirty version of the newspaper’s larger and long-running crossword. Most days, there are between three and five clues in each direction on a five by five grid, but the puzzles are sometimes larger, especially on Saturdays.
Unlike its larger sibling, the NYT Mini crossword is free to play on the New York Times website or NYT Games app. However, you’ll need an NYT Games subscription to access previous puzzles in the archives.
To help you avoid getting stuck and having to reveal missing letters, here are the NYT Mini Crossword answers for Saturday, March 8 (spoilers lie ahead, of course):

It took me 1:14 to complete today’s NYT Mini.
That’s not bad at all. I’m very happy with that time for a Saturday Mini.
I think SCAR and NEON saved me a bit, It was really helpful to get those start and end letters after I struggled with the middle section of the Across clues. SO GOOD made me smile as well. As for ATL, that, of course, stands for Atlanta.
I never knew that PIE TINS were the inspiration for the Frisbee. That’s a fun little factoid to learn. And given that I write about technology for a living, it took me an embarrassingly long time (okay, like six seconds) to remember that the “S” in iOS stands for “system” – it’s Apple’s operating system for iPhone. Yikes!
See you tomorrow for Sunday fun on the NYT Mini!
