There is not much to be positive about with Destiny 2 these days, but when I see a glimmer of something good, I feel like I should spotlight it.
Say what you will about the rest of the game, but the armor team in Destiny 2 (and shader team for that matter) consistently kill it, and have only improved their game over the past decade with each passing year. Now that’s on display with its upcoming Festival of the Lost/Halloween armor.
Yes, Halloween, the holiday that was two and a half months ago. But in AAA development, you need to start designing a set this early to make sure it’s ready for the next year. In this instance, every year players vote between two sets of designs that Bungie will actually make, but this year is different, as no matter what “wins,” all sets will be made eventually. And boy, they should be.
This is easily the coolest batch of Festival of the Lost armor we’ve ever seen from Bungie, taking inspiration from classic horror villains, a group on the slasher side, and a group on the supernatural side. We have:
Jason Voorhees Titan, Ghostface Hunter and Scarecrow Warlock (I actually don’t know if this is a specific movie murder Scarecrow).
On the supernatural side, that’s Babadook Titan, La Llorona Hunter and Slenderman Warlock.
While I vote the supernatural side, you don’t actually need to vote for an entire side. The way voting works is that you pick one look for each class, and the winners can be mixed and matched. But unlike past voting, they will indeed make the “losing” side eventually to avoid situations like how we never got Godzilla Hunter armor. Bungie has said they will also make the losers of last year’s Wizard voting (but still no Godzilla Hunter)
For my money, these are the best horror-based sets they’ve ever done. I would pick all supernatural options myself, but I wouldn’t be sad if Jason Titan won for the early pick. But you better give me La Llrona Hunter and Slenderman Warlock. But my actual guess is that we’re going to see Jason Titan, Ghostface Hunter and Slenderman Warlock win as those are the most recognizable ones of the bunch. Everyone go watch The Babadook right now.
We don’t know when we will learn the results of this poll, but you can vote here now if you want. And as ever, we won’t be able to get our hands on any of these until October 2025 when we will be into the Frontiers era of the game.
