BAY COUNTY, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) – Bay County is growing, and so is its airport.

Wednesday’s board meeting at Northwest Florida Beaches International Airport was all about how to fund that growth.

The board was briefed on different commercial borrowing opportunities that are available to help pay for expansion, specifically the “North Terminal Expansion Program.”

They heard from two professional financial advisors on different bond options and other ways to help fund the program.

“The two speakers today did talk about those potential costs. They didn’t give us dollar figures, but they did give us a list of ‘here are the potential fees you’re going to be paying,” said Parker McClellan, the executive director at Northwest Florida Beaches International Airport.

The board also toured a new build out space for passengers with expansive seating, bathrooms and more.

The new space includes two new flight gates, numbered 8 and 9, which will be put into use in the coming days.
