La Liga president Javier Tebas confirmed when FC Barcelona will return to its Camp Nou and also said he hopes that the Catalans have a “quiet summer” in the transfer market when appearing on popular radio station El Larguero.
Barca has been away from its home since the spring of 2023, and used the Olympic Stadium in Montjuic temporarily for the past two seasons.
It is expected to return to Camp Nou in 2025/2026, and Tebas pretty much confirmed reports claiming they will play the first games of the season away from home to put the final touches to a ground that won’t be fully complete after the summer but should be able to hold 60,000 punters initially.
“The first match at the Camp Nou for Barça will be on the return from the FIFA date, on September 20,” Tebas stated initially.
Often thought of as an enemy to Culers because of being an obstacle in their club’s way when it comes to signing new players, registering them and staying on the right side of Financial Fair Play (FFP), Tebas said that he hopes Barca gives him a “quiet sumer”.
“I hope to have a quiet summer with Barça, they know what they have to do and we hope they do it as soon as possible and so we will be calm,” Tebas remarked about Barça’s still recovering financial situation.
“What they have to do is not very difficult. I hope they do it,” he added.
Asked about the expected signing of Espanyol’s Joan Garcia, Tebas claimed ignorance and said that Barca or the club in question usually calls “the day before or the same morning to notify that the clause is deposited” while “in Barcelona they will know better than in La Liga”.
Regarding his ongoing conflict with Real Madrid president Florentino Perez, Tebas noted that they don’t have a relationship and at ever meal Perez says “that they want to kick me out”.
The Club World Cup is not Tebas’ problem, nor FC Barcelona’s
Tebas said that the Club World Cup is not his problem and he will not make expectations for Real Madrid or Atletico Madrid to start their La Liga campaigns earlier as a consequence. It isn’t FC Barcelona’s problem either, and they will go into the season much better rested after not being included in the newly reimagined FIFA tournament.
