GlobalData has announced the latest Financial and Legal Adviser League Tables, which rank advisers by the total value and volume of merger and acquisition (M&A) deals they advised on in the European region during 2024.
Goldman Sachs and Rothschild & Co were the top mergers and acquisitions (M&A) financial advisers in the European region in 2024 by value and volume, respectively, according to the latest financial advisers league table by GlobalData, publishers of RBI.
An analysis of GlobalData’s Deals Database revealed that Goldman Sachs achieved its leading position in terms of value by advising on $97.5bn worth of deals. Meanwhile, Rothschild led in terms of volume by advising on a total of 132 deals.
Aurojyoti Bose, Lead Analyst at GlobalData, said: “Rothschild was the top adviser by volume in 2023 and managed to retain its leadership position by this metric in 2024 as well despite experiencing a year-on-year fall in the number of deals advised by it. Apart from leading by volume, Rothschild also occupied the ninth position by value in 2024.
“Meanwhile, Goldman Sachs registered more than a double-fold jump in the total value of deals advised by it during 2024 compared to 2023. And it went ahead from occupying the second position by value in 2023 to top the chart by this metric in 2024. It advised on 24 billion-dollar deals* that also included one mega deal valued more than $10bn and the involvement in these big-ticket deals helped Goldman Sachs register jump in total deal value as well as improvement in its ranking by value in 2024.”
Lazard occupied the second position in terms of value, by advising on $71.3bn worth of deals, followed by Morgan Stanley with $68.4bn, UBS with $59.6bn and Deutsche Bank with $47.1bn.
Meanwhile, PwC occupied the second position in terms of volume with 119 deals, followed by Clearwater International with 104 deals, Ernst & Young with 103 deals and KPMG with 99 deals.
Latham & Watkins and CMS were the top mergers and acquisitions (M&A) legal advisers in the European region in 2024 by value and volume, respectively according to the latest legal advisers league table by GlobalData.
An analysis of GlobalData’s Deals Database revealed that Latham & Watkins achieved its leading position in terms of value by advising on $58.8bn worth of deals. Meanwhile, CMS led in terms of volume by advising on a total of 265 deals.
