Google has dropped the price of the Pixel 8 series and Pixel 7a yet again. What’s different is that these are some of the biggest discounts I’ve seen from the company so far.

The Google UK store is running a double promotion with lower prices across several devices, alongside an additional 20% off the final cost when the code “BIRTHDAY26” is applied at checkout. If you remember, Google launched its 26th birthday sale last week with enhanced trade-in prices when buying the Pixel 9.

It might be a month or two before we see straight money-off discounts for the Pixel 9, but these Pixel 8 discounts suggest the company is trying to clear out its stock. As it stands, several devices such as the Pixel 8 Pro and Pixel 7 series, have been discounted. On top of that, there is an additional 20% off with the aforementioned code.

With all promotions applied, here’s how much each device costs.

  • Pixel 8 Pro – £569.20 ($569.20), down from £899 ($1204.52)
  • Pixel 8 – £479.20 ($642.61), down from £599 ($802.57)
  • Pixel 8a – £399.20 ($535.06), down from £499.00 ($668.58)
  • Pixel 7 Pro – out of stock
  • Pixel 7 – out of stock
  • Pixel 7a – £259.20 ($347.59), down from £449.00 ($668.58)
  • Pixel Tablet – £294.20 ($394.53), down from £399.00 ($534.60)
  • Pixel Buds A series – £52.99 ($71.06), down from £109.99 ($147.37)

In terms of value for money, the Pixel 8 Pro might be the best option for deal hunters right now. The 2023 Google handset has six years of updates left with more AI features on the way.

The Pixel 8 Pro has nearly identical rear camera hardware to the Pixel 8 Pro, with the sole major difference being the selfie sensor resolution (42MP versus 10.5MP). Read my story on why I think the Pixel 8 Pro is a better choice below.

This new Pixel 8 promotion is one of many Google has launched this year, with the handset being subject to repeated—almost monthly— price drops since last December. If your eye is firmly trained on buying the Pixel 9, it won’t be long before Google drops its price too.
