For the first time in a while, Twitch drops are back for the Escape From Tarkov summer wipe, meaning you can get some free in game items just for watching your favourite streamers.

Typically, Twitch drops in Escape From Tarkov are reserved for the end of year wipe, which is typically a bit bigger than the summer wipe we just got. However, this time, likely in an attempt to entice players back after the Unheard Edition controversy earlier in the year, drops are back in the summer and some top tier loot is being offered to viewers.

With the servers now somewhat stabilising and players progressing past the opening quests, the Twitch drops are about to be opened up, with the campaign starting at 2 PM BST / 9 AM EDT today, August 23. The Twitch drops campaign will then run until August 28, 2PM BST / 9AM EDT, giving you lots of time to earn your free loot.

In order to get Escape From Tarkov Twitch drops there are a few things you need to do in order to be eligible. First off you need to have a Twitch account, an Escape From Tarkov account and have linked the two on the official Tarkov website. Once you have linked the accounts, you can start watching eligible streamers.

However, throughout the drops campaign each streamer will only have two periods of drops, so you can’t just leave your PC watching Pestily all day every day and get the drops. The full schedule is here, so you can go and find streamers who have drops at any given time during the event.

When you find a streamer who has drops enabled, you simply need to watch their stream for a set amount of time. Typically, the first drops are available after an hour of watching a stream with drops enabled, but that could change for this event. After you have earned a drop you will get a notification on Twitch, and will need to go to the drops page in order to claim the item. Once you hit the claim button, the item will be sent to you in Escape From Tarkov.

While we don’t know exactly what items you will be getting through the drops, we do know that some things can impact the rarity of items you get. There will be common, rare and legendary drops on the first day, but there will also be a challenge that all the streamers in the drops need to complete. If they complete two parts of the challenge the drops the next day will be legendary, if they complete one part of the challenge the drops will be rare and if they fail to complete either part the drops will be common.
