The triple-folding Samsung Galaxy Z TriFold is tipped for a December 5 launch date, according to a new report that reveals the Samsung TriFold’s specs, $3,000 price, and huge 5,6000mAh battery size upgrade.
Samsung TriFold Release Date
Korean publication The Chosun Daily reports that Samsung is planning to release its trifolding phone, which the publication dubs the “Galaxy Z TriFold,” on December 5th. However, it won’t come to every country; instead, the double-hinged phone’s release will be limited to Asian countries, with South Korea being Samsung’s main focus.
U.S. buyers will have to wait to get their hands on the TriFold because Samsung will only ship up to 30,000 units for the initial release. The phone appears to be very much a concept device that is ready for select power users, rather than a phone prepared for a global rollout. The Chosun Daily quotes its source as saying that the phone’s limited release exists to showcase the technology and see how the market responds.
Considering the Galaxy S25 Edge’s reported short life and subsequent cancellation, it is not a surprise that the Korean company is taking baby steps with a new form factor.
Samsung TriFold Price USA
The Samsung Galaxy Z TriFold will cost 4.4 million Korean won, which is roughly $3,000. That is $600 more than the launch price of the 1TB Galaxy Z Fold 7 and $500 more than the Huawei Mate XTs. It is also more expensive than any Samsung tablet, any of its Galaxy Book laptops, or even the new Galaxy XR headset.
You have to look to the company’s fridges and high-end TVs to see a similar price, which would make it one of Samsung’s most expensive products. It is worth noting that converted pricing from one territory to another does not mean that is what the phone will cost.
Samsung will have a specific pricing strategy for the different countries it operates in. If the TriFold ever makes it to the U.S., we may see it equipped with an entirely different price tag. This is not to mention whatever pre-order deals Samsung may announce with that handset.
Samsung TriFold Specs And Battery Size
Here is where it gets interesting. The publication drops new specification information, revealing that the Samsung TriFold will house a 5,600mAh battery—a huge upgrade from the 4,400mAh power pack in the Galaxy Z Fold 7. It is also larger than the 5,000mAh battery in the Galaxy S25 Ultra but falls short of the 8,400mAh cell powering the Samsung Galaxy Tab S11.
Considering the handset folds out into a 10-inch tablet, a 5,600mAh battery feels small compared to the Tab S11’s huge cell (which has an 11-inch display). The difference is that the TriFold will reportedly measure in at 4.2mm when unfolded (the same as the Galaxy Z Fold 7), compared to the Tab S11’s 5.5mm thickness.
This suggests that Samsung is using the same device slimming design technology it deployed in the Fold 7 and Galaxy S25 Edge. It also might point to new silicon-carbon battery technology, read my explainer on that here.
Slimming the Samsung TriFold down is essential considering how chunky it could be with three screens and two hinges. The Chosun Daily claims that the handset will be 14mm when folded, which is still slimmer than the first four Galaxy Z Fold phones. While impressive, that is still a very thick and hefty phone that will make a dent in a jeans pocket.
