Have you noticed that Apple Intelligence has suddenly been enabled on your iPhone, iPad or MacBook? You’re not the only. Irked users have taken to Reddit to complain about the issue after the latest macOS and iOS software updates.
On Monday, Apple rolled out the new macOS Sequoia 15.3.1 and iOS 18.3.1 updates — and it seems the update has inadvertently turned on Apple Intelligence for a slew of users as spotted by MacRumours and The Verge. Software developer Jeff Johnson has since complied some user complaint reports.
Redditors expressed frustration with the unwanted activation of Apple Intelligence, the AI-powered feature that enables Siri’s integration with ChatGPT, noting that they had previously opted out of the functionality.
While not a big inconvenience, users have complained that they find the feature “useless,” expressing nuisance about the need to disable it again.
The bug doesn’t seem to affect all users, but the scope of the issue is unclear.
(I’ve reached out to Apple for comment and will update this piece accordingly if I hear back.)
