Every October, for the last nine years, Jackbox Games has dropped an all-new Party Pack in time for Thanksgiving and Christmas. However, after nearly a decade of tradition, it’s going in a new direction–say goodbye to Jackbox Party Pack 11 and hello to the Jackbox Survey Scramble.
Purists may be disappointed, but it might be a genius move. This all-new take on the party game formula–following the equally surprising announcement of the Jackbox Naughty Pack, which arrived earlier this month–offers four games that promise to combine Family Feud-style, survey-based questions with one-word answers collected from real people.
There’s every chance the game will age like a fine wine, too–Jackbox will constantly update its database of responses based on what everyone submits, potentially futureproofing its games with topical answers.
All Jackbox Survey Scramble games
Survey Scramble promises four new game modes when it launches:
Hilo
Hilo tests your knowledge of the most and least popular answers to questions, such as “What are the most popular one-word cat names?” Players compete to guess rankings that often surprise you; for example, it notes that that Frank is a remarkably popular choice.
Speed
Speed is an unsurprisingly fast-paced game that makes players scramble to uncover as many answers as possible in the shortest timespan; as the clock counts down to zero, the stakes get higher and points soar.
Squares
Squares is a competitive mode between two teams, who try to claim three squares in a row by guessing the popularity of certain answers.
Bounce
Finally, Bounce sees teams work together to control a paddle on a scale between most and least popular answers. Each guess moves the paddle, with the goal of intercepting a bouncing ball before the other team scores–and the ball gets faster as the game progresses.
The Jackbox Survey Scramble will land on Steam, Nintendo Switch, Xbox, PlayStation, and smart TVs in October, and will debut during Steam Next Fest (October 14 to 21), with a full release scheduled for the end of the month. What’s more, the initial four games aren’t the only thing buyers will get; Jackbox Games also promises additional game modes through a free update before the end of 2024.
