Man kayaks across the Chicago River to commute to work

Dan Schreiner, a financial advisor from Chicago, commutes to work by kayak, embracing an eco-friendly and adventurous lifestyle.”No traffic on the river today,” Schreiner told local TV station WBBM on his way to work one day. It’s a workout to get to his office downtown from his home in Roscoe Village, a neighborhood a few miles away.”We got the beautiful North Branch of the Chicago River right here,” Schreiner said.He could easily take the Kennedy Expressway. But, “This is way more scenic,” Schreiner said. “You definitely won’t get hit by a car when you’re on the river.” Schreiner usually makes this trip solo a few mornings a month.”Looking perfect. We should’ve brought our fishing rods,” Schreiner said.It started with a New Year’s resolution.”Yeah, giving back to Mother Earth and no emissions and try to inspire some people to be healthy,” Schreiner said.”Just thought it was kind of a wacky idea and my wife said, ‘Yeah, you should do this for sure,'” Schreiner said.Watch the video above for more on this story.
