Proplica is one of the more unique Bandai Spirits toy lines, which brings “props” from anime to life. The toy line is celebrating its 10th anniversary with a new event.

The Proplica range of toys are uniquely varied, as they don’t really fall into one category. They aren’t action figures and they aren’t chogokin (although diecast is used in some of their construction), they are something separate.

The premise of the toy line is about bringing props from anime to life. These range from swords like the upcoming Master Sword from Zelda to the Keyblade from the Kingdom Hearts games.

You also have a version of Pac-Man and the Core Drill from Gurren Lagann, so it’s not a typical toyline by any means.

So a new event to commemorate these Proplica releases feels only right and proper.

One of the mainstays of the Proplica range are all the accessories from Sailor Moon, which are suitably numerous. The event shows all of them on display and also has a nice photo opportunity available as well.

The big new addition is the Tensa Zangetsu sword from Bleach (shown above) which has a variety of voice commands and a vibration function.

For me, the highlight was seeing the Proplica Master Sword up close again. This looks to be a truly special release at the end of this month. One that I hope leads to more Proplica releases from Zelda, such as the Hylian Shield.

One additional piece of good news, is that the Proplica Takicopter from Doraemon is getting a re-release next week. Originally released back in 2020, it went under the radar due to COVID but it’s now back again, although it’s important to explain that it won’t let you actually fly.

This Proplica event is held at the Tamashii Nations Store Tokyo in Akihabara until October 28 and entry is free.
