Do you like Stranger Things? Quite right. Then a Samsung partnership with Samsung may please you. It brings themes and wallpapers to your phone. But there’s a condition: the special extras are for people who’ve launched or downloaded the Netflix app.
Samsung’s press release from Jan. 13 specifically said, “Starting Jan. 12, Samsung Galaxy users in 186 countries can download an exclusive “Stranger Things” theme and wallpapers via Galaxy Store — available at no additional cost for a limited time to those who download or launch the Netflix app,” it said.
That’s the stipulation, and on the face of it, it seems pretty reasonable. After all, if you’re a Stranger Things fan, you almost certainly have Netflix so you can watch the show.
But maybe you only watch on the TV, or tablet, so have never downloaded the app to your Galaxy phone.
How to Get the Stranger Things Theme on Samsung Galaxy Phones
The collection promises exclusive content, including a special theme and five wallpapers, “featuring live-action characters and settings from the show, including Hawkins and the Upside Down. Reflecting the unique atmosphere of the show, the visuals allow fans to bring elements of the series into their everyday lives.”
It also notes that you need Android version 8 or later.
Who’s Eligible — And How Long the Samsung Stranger Things Theme Lasts
If you’re interested, and your Galaxy phone has Netflix downloaded or launched on it, the theme and wallpapers are available through the Galaxy Store on Samsung Galaxy phones, but only until Feb. 22.
Stranger Things is a big deal, becoming the first series in Netflix history “to place all five seasons in the Global Top 10 at the same time, holding that record for five consecutive weeks,” the press release said.
Samsung’s partnership is long-standing, and previously included special content following the launch of Stranger Things season 4. The company has recently introduced a partnership connected to the film KPop Demon Hunters.
