Samsung’s latest special offer to promote the Galaxy S24 had a little surprise. Those purchasing the new smartphone were offered a new Galaxy smartwatch as part of a bundle. There was just one problem; the bundled Galaxy Watch FE isn’t available yet.
Bundling accessories with a new smartphone purchase is not a new strategy, but Samsung has been offering more than most since the launch of the Galaxy S24 family in January. From extra storage and subscriptions to exclusive colors and peripherals, the push to sell the new smartphones has been loud and aggressive.
And it has contributed to the success of the S24 platform. Counterpoint Research notes that “The Galaxy S24 Ultra was the best-selling GenAI-capable smartphone, commanding over 30% market share, more than the combined share of the next two smartphones.”
As part of a mid-season refresh of the range, it’s no surprise that Samsung would offer the handset with a new range of peripherals. Going with a smartwatch has the added benefit of bringing more consumers into Samsung’s wearables platform.
Samsung’s next Galaxy Watch is expected to be the Galaxy Watch Fan Edition. This would use the established FE approach to offer hardware that delivers most of the features of a larger device but at a more cost-effective price. Bundling an S24 and a Watch FE is an attractive and value-for-money deal.
There’s just the small matter that Samsung has not officially announced the Watch FE. Naturally, the offer is no longer listed on the website, but it will undoubtedly return when the Galaxy Watch FE launches later this month, with many commentators highlighting June 24th as the launch date.
