The Bear remains one of the most prestigious shows on TV with Emmy wins and routine appreciation by fans and critics. Now we have some fresh news about season 4 of The Bear and its likely release date, and it sounds pretty good.
Star Jeremy Allen White was asked when filming begins for season 4 of The Bear:
“I’m not sure exactly when. I know it’s not going to be until next year. I imagine sometime early next year, a similar start date to the last couple of years: February/March time.”
If previous shows have been out in June, is that enough time to hit that mark if it starts filming in February or March of 2025? According to past history, yes.
- The Bear season 2 started filming February 2023, and was released in June 2024
- The Bear season 3 started filming February 2024, and was released in June 2024.
As such, with a February or March 2025 start date, that should be able to hit the same mark of late June 2024, at worst, very early July. Still, it’s a year apart in a streaming era where that simply does not happen very often at all. All three seasons of The Bear have debuted almost exactly a year apart, June 23, 2022 for season 1, June 22, 2023 for season 2, June 26, 2024 for season 3. It’s nothing short of a miracle, and yes, season 4 does still seem to be on track for that. I believe the show may be meant to end with season 5, but that has yet to be confirmed.
It seems like Hulu is pretty good at doing this, as another show that does almost exactly this is Only Murders in the Building, which has just returned for season 4, under 13 months after season 3 aired. The common thread here may be the fact that these are relatively easier shows to shoot and produce, especially The Bear which takes place in just a handful of locations, and post-production work isn’t requiring mass VFX. This is opposed to larger shows on Netflix and Max and Amazon that often have 1.5-2+ years in between seasons, something that has begun to exhaust many fans when even for bigger shows, this didn’t used to be the case (the first 5-6 seasons of Game of Thrones all came out a year or so apart).
Regardless, this is a good look for The Bear and I would expect it in ten months or so, as per usual.
