It can be hard to know what to watch even if you have five different streaming services at once, but you can’t go wrong with perfect scores, right? There are a number of series that have arrived hitting that metric as of the last month or so, and I can recommend essentially all of them. Here are five that are either out now, or about to be released in a few days, maybe by the time you read this.
Dark Winds (100%, Streaming on Netflix) – The murder mystery series set on a Native American reservation is a must-watch and has a 100% score across two seasons. It’s a fantastic vehicle for star Zahn McClarnon who you have no doubt seen in a lot of projects, but he’s able to lead his own series here. This is the official synopsis:
“Set in 1971 on a remote outpost of the Navajo Nation near Monument Valley, Dark Winds follows Lieutenant Joe Leaphorn of the Tribal Police as he is besieged by a series of seemingly unrelated crimes. The closer he digs to the truth, the more he exposes the wounds of his past. He is joined on this journey by his new deputy, Jim Chee. Chee, too, has old scores to settle from his youth on the reservation. Together, the two men battle the forces of evil, each other and their own personal demons on the path to salvation.”
From (100%, Streaming on MGM+) – Yes, I know you have to subscribe to MGM+, a streaming service you may not have known even existed, but I can promise you that it’s going to be worth the $7 just for this series, which is essentially a horror version of LOST, even starring one of that show’s actors, Harold Perrineau. It’s about a town that no one can leave once they entire, and a nightly plague of monsters terrorizes them. Here’s the official synopsis:
“In a nightmarish town somewhere in America that traps those who enter, unwilling residents strive to stay alive, plagued by terrifying nocturnal creatures from the surrounding forest, and search for a way out, looking for secrets hidden within the town and beyond.”
Heartstopper (100%, Streaming on Netflix) – The love story between two schoolboys is one of the most heartwarming series on TV, now in its third season and likely headed to a fourth and final one. It’s a coming of age story we rarely see and a breakout series for its stars Kit Connor and Joe Locke. Here’s the official synopsis:
“Heartstopper is an English coming-of-age romantic comedy-drama television series on Netflix, written and created by Alice Oseman and based on her webcomic and graphic novel of the same name. The series primarily tells the story of Charlie Spring (Joe Locke), a gay schoolboy who falls in love with classmate Nick Nelson (Kit Connor), whom he sits next to in his new form.”
The Legend of Vox Machina (100%, Streaming on Amazon Prime Video) – Now we turn to an animated fantasy series, one concocted based on a Dungeons and Dragons campaign that has maintained a perfect 100% across all three seasons, something that almost never happens. Here’s the official synopsis:
“The first two episodes of the series depict “an all-new story about the seven-member Vox Machina team at D&D Level 7 on their first ‘grown-up’ mission, which occurs prior to Critical Role’s first RPG show”. The series then adapts the Briarwood arc from the original web series. in which the Vox Machina crew avenge the murder of the rulers of the town of Whitestone and most of their offspring by the evil Lord and Lady Briarwood”
Sweatpea (100%, Streaming on Starz starting October 14) – Ella Purnell is not satisfied starring in two different acclaimed series, Yellowjackets and Fallout, she has a new series where she stars as a killer that has perfect scores heading into season 1 this October. Here’s the official synopsis:
“Rhiannon Lewis doesn’t make much of an impression – people walk past her without a second glance. That is until she is pushed over the edge and loses control. Rhiannon’s life transforms, but can she keep her killer secret?”
