In case you missed Thursday’s NYT Mini Crossword puzzle, you can find the answers here:

It’s Valentine’s Day! The weather gods sent us a little love note in the form of a nice winter storm, something we’ve been severely lacking. I hope all you puzzle-solvers have a lovely day of romance, and if not romance than at least some good games. It’s my last day as your Mini Crossword host. I’ll see you in a couple weeks! Let’s solve today’s!

The NYT Mini is a smaller, quicker, more digestible, bite-sized version of the larger and more challenging NYT Crossword, and unlike its larger sibling, it’s free-to-play without a subscription to The New York Times. You can play it on the web or the app, though you’ll need the app to tackle the archive.

Spoilers ahead!

ACROSS

1- What each knuckle represents in a famous mnemonic device — MONTH

6- Best Picture nominee starring Mikey Madison — ANORA

7- Something set on a microwave — TIMER

8- “Here’s to love!,” e.g. — TOAST

9- Burnt ___ (barbecue tidbits) — ENDS

DOWN

1- Not glossy, as a photo — MATTE

2- Publication with the headline “History Sighs, Repeats Itself,” with “The” — ONION

3- Wanderer — NOMAD

4- Lock of hair — TRESS

5- Comedian Kevin (with a name that’s fitting for Valentine’s Day) — HART

A surprisingly difficult NYT Mini today, though I suppose the idea is they get harder as the week goes on, culminating in the big Saturday puzzle. 1-Across had me at a loss, and I couldn’t think of 2-Across at first, either. Fortunately the next three Across words were fairly easy, as were 1 and 3 and 5Down and from here it was easy enough to fill in MONTH and ANORA and TRESS. It took me 1:26 today.

How did you do? Let me know on Twitter, Instagram or Facebook.

If you also play Wordle, I write guides about that as well. You can find those and all my TV guides, reviews and much more here on my blog. Thanks for reading!
