In case you missed Saturday’s NYT Mini Crossword puzzle, you can find the answers here:

It’s been a chilly weekend, and I’m hoping for warmer weather to see us through the week. It’s still autumn, and I’m not ready for winter just yet. There’s plenty of time for cold and grey and snow. Let’s have some of the white fluffy stuff on Christmas, how about? For now, I’d like to solve all my word puzzles in cool autumnal air. Speaking of which, let’s solve today’s NYT Mini Crossword!

The NYT Mini is a smaller, quicker, more digestible, bite-sized version of the larger and more challenging NYT Crossword, and unlike its larger sibling, it’s free-to-play without a subscription to The New York Times. You can play it on the web or the app, though you’ll need the app to tackle the archive.

One good tactic with crossword puzzles is to try to get as many ACROSS as possible first and then you’ll find a lot of the DOWN are already done—or vice versa if the ones ACROSS are trickier.

While some of today’s words are pretty simple, some might have you stumped. You’ll find the answers below. Spoilers ahead, obviously. Skip ahead for the image of today’s solved puzzle.

ACROSS

1 — ___ Martin, frequent collaborator with 1-Down — STEVE

6 — Parts of irrigation systems — HOSES

7 — Beginning — ONSET

8— Backup camera’s place on a car — REAR

9 — Make an attempt — TRY

DOWN

1 — Martin ___, frequent collaborator with 1-Across — SHORT

2 — Stuff in a printer cartridge — TONER

3 — Common kind of test for a literature class — ESSAY

4 — Make a sudden turn — VEER

5 — Jokey suffix with best — EST

This was the easiest Mini Crossword I’ve done in a hot minute, though that’s largely because 1-Across and 1-Down were so obvious, especially if you’ve been watching Only Murders In The Building. From here, most everything was either pretty simple or filled itself in. I’m not really sure about 5-Down but I didn’t need to be since I got everything else around it filled in. This took me 1:19. I was slowed down by accidentally switching from Across to Down and vice versa a few times.

How did you do? Let me know on Twitter, Instagram or Facebook.

If you also play Wordle, I write guides about that as well. You can find those and all my TV guides, reviews and much more here on my blog. Thanks for reading!
