In case you missed Monday’s NYT Mini Crossword puzzle, you can find the answers here:
We’ve made it to Tuesday, folks. That might not be much, but it’s something. And as I am wont to say, one must appreciate the little things. Little things like…the New York Times Mini Crossword!
The Mini is a smaller, quicker, more digestible, bite-sized version of the larger and more challenging NYT Crossword, and unlike its larger sibling, it’s free-to-play without a subscription to The New York Times. You can play it on the web or the app, though you’ll need the app to tackle the archive.
A few hints for the tougher ones in case you don’t just want the answers right away:
- 1 Down is a creature
- 1 Across has the same first three letters as yesterday’s 1 Across
- 8 Across includes a word associated with potato chips
- If you solve all the Across stuff you basically finish the puzzle without worrying about Down.
While some of today’s words are pretty simple, some might have you stumped. You’ll find the answers below. Spoilers ahead, obviously. Skip ahead for the image of today’s solved puzzle.
ACROSS
1. Petty fight — SPAT
5. Funny little habit — QUIRK
7. “I can’t ___ that” (response to being told that Colonel Sanders’s bow tie looks like a stick figure’s body) — UNSEE
8. Mother-of-pearl design on a guitar, e.g. — INLAY
9. Colored, as hair — DYED
DOWN
1. Source of edible ink — SQUID
2. Like the horror movie titles “chopping Mall” and “Santa’s Slay” — PUNNY
3. Airplane seat choice — AISLE
4. Grippy part of a tire — TREAD
5. Paper with the answers on it — KEY
This went quickly, though I didn’t even realize I knew SQUID was where edible ink came from. I guess I didn’t and I just assumed it once the question was posed. I’m also a guitar player so I knew what an inlay was on a guitar. The rest came together pretty quickly! How did you do on today’s Mini Crossword? Let me know on Twitter and Facebook.
If you also play Wordle, I write guides about that as well. You can find those and all my TV guides, reviews and much more here on my blog. Thanks for reading!
