In case you missed Monday’s NYT Mini, you can find the answers here:

Wondering who the villain of Othello is? Not sure what’s never open 24/7? Don’t worry, because I’m here to help you with the answers for today’s NYT Mini crossword.

The NYT Mini is a quick and dirty version of the newspaper’s larger and long-running crossword. Most days, there are between three and five clues in each direction on a five by five grid, but the puzzles are often larger at the weekends.

Unlike its larger sibling, the NYT Mini crossword is free to play on the New York Times website or NYT Games app. However, you’ll need an NYT Games subscription to access previous puzzles in the archives.

The NYT Mini is a fun daily distraction that usually takes no time at all. I try to beat the standard weekday grid in less than a minute. But sometimes I can’t quite figure out one or two clues and need to reveal the answer.

To help you avoid doing that, here are the NYT Mini Crossword answers for Tuesday, July 23 (spoilers lie ahead, of course):

NYT Mini Crossword Clues And Answers

Across

1 Across clue: Food that fills both blanks of “___ce of ___”

4 Across clue: Wide display

6 Across clue: Quintessentially boring color

7 Across clue: Founder of Amazon

8 Across clue: Type of beer

Down

1 Down clue: Game show contestant’s hope

2 Down clue: Othello villain

3 Down clue: They’re never open 24/7

4 Down clue: “Mamma Mia!” group

5 Down clue: Film spool

It took me 0:39 to complete today’s NYT Mini.

The first two Across clues didn’t click immediately, so I skipped those. I got BEIGE and BEZOS with no problem, but wasn’t totally sure about ALE. It was either that or IPA, but I went with my gut, knowing I’d be able to change it if it wasn’t right.

The first two Down clues didn’t pose an issue but I wasn’t sure about the third. 4 and 5 Down were easy enough too. With the letters I’d unlocked thanks to the Down clues, I deduced the remaining Across answers — PIE and ARRAY — to complete teh grid.
