Looking for Saturday’s Wordle hints, clues and answer? You can find them here:

June is a pretty awesome month for a handful of reasons. First and foremost, it’s my birthday month—clearly that alone makes it the best month of the year! Also, my daughter and first-born child was born in June. My uncle and my Nana were both June babies also. Geminis, the lot of us. And you know what they say about Geminis, we’re twice as fun!

Second, June is Pride month. That means we get to celebrate equality and acceptance and go to some fun parties and drag shows.

Finally, June is the start of summer and other than the threat of wildfires, summer is a pretty rad time. I’m pretty sure there are many other reasons why June is the best, but for now we’ll leave it at that.

It’s the weekend so be sure to check out my weekend streaming guide. Lots of good stuff out right now.

Wordle Analysis

Every day I check Wordle Bot to help analyze my guessing game. You can check your Wordles with Wordle Bot right here.

I picked PLANE as my opening guess because a friend of mine was just regaling us with their travel nightmares and just how crappy the airlines have gotten in recent years. This is one reason I never go anywhere!

With one green box, I decided to guess all new letters for my second try. HOIST slashed the remaining words down to just three, and gave me a yellow ‘O’. I could think of two: BRAVO and OVARY. Later, Wordle Bot would inform me that AMARO was also an option. The herbal Italian liqueur is not something in my usual lexicon. In any case, I felt like guessing OVARY and the answer being BRAVO was worse than the other way around so I guessed BRAVO. And bravo to me, that was the Wordle!

Competitive Wordle Score

I get 1 point for guessing in three and 1 point for beating the Bot who took four tries today. 2 points! I am the champion!

How To Play Competitive Wordle

Guessing in 1 is worth 3 points; guessing in 2 is worth 2 points; guessing in 3 is worth 1 point; guessing in 4 is worth 0 points; guessing in 5 is -1 points; guessing in 6 is -2 points and missing the Wordle is -3 points.

If you beat your opponent you get 1 point. If you tie, you get 0 points. And if you lose to your opponent, you get -1 point. Add it up to get your score. Keep a daily running score or just play for a new score each day.

Today’s Wordle Etymology

The word “bravo” has its origins in Italian, where it means “brave” or “bold.” It was derived from the Latin word “bravus,” which is a variant of “pravus,” meaning “crooked” or “wicked.” Over time, the meaning evolved to signify courage and boldness rather than a negative connotation. In English, “bravo” is often used to express approval or admiration, especially in response to a performance, akin to saying “well done” or “excellent.”
