Wordle Analysis
Every day I check Wordle Bot to help analyze my guessing game. You can check your Wordles with Wordle Bot right here.
I very nearly had this in three, and I’ll explain how momentarily. CRIME wasn’t a very good opener (it doesn’t pay!) leaving me with 463 remaining possible solutions. SHOUT slashed that to just 39, which is manageable but not great. At this point, my impulse was to guess FUNKY, but I faltered. So many words I could think of used an ‘L’ you see. So I went against my instinct and guessed FULLY instead. When the two boxes inhabited by traitorous L’s came up grey, I had to go with my initial guess and sure enough, FUNKY was the Wordle! Funky fresh!
Competitive Wordle Score
A total wash today. 0 for guessing in four and I tied the Bot. Oh well!
How To Play Competitive Wordle
- Guessing in 1 is worth 3 points; guessing in 2 is worth 2 points; guessing in 3 is worth 1 point; guessing in 4 is worth 0 points; guessing in 5 is -1 points; guessing in 6 is -2 points and missing the Wordle is -3 points.
- If you beat your opponent you get 1 point. If you tie, you get 0 points. And if you lose to your opponent, you get -1 point. Add it up to get your score. Keep a daily running score or just play for a new score each day.
- Fridays are 2XP, meaning you double your points—positive or negative.
- You can keep a running tally or just play day-by-day. Enjoy!
Today’s Wordle Etymology
The word funky has origins in the early 17th century, derived from the French word funqiue, meaning “smoke” or “musty smell,” referring to a strong or unpleasant odor. In African American slang of the early 20th century, it evolved to describe something earthy or deeply rooted in authenticity, particularly in music, such as jazz or funk, eventually taking on its modern meaning of something stylish, unconventional, or cool.
