It’s the last Friday before Christmas, which means for a lot of kids it’s the beginning of winter break. For a lot of parents, that means a lot more kids around the house. I’m happy because I don’t have to get up early to take my 9th grader to school in the mornings! I’m also looking forward to some family time and some Christmas movies and whatnot.
For now, though, it’s 2XP Friday and we have a Wordle to solve! All you Competitive Wordle players can double your points (positive or negative) today!

Wordle Analysis
Every day I check Wordle Bot to help analyze my guessing game. You can check your Wordles with Wordle Bot right here.
I had a bit of trouble today, unfortunately, despite all my guesses landing close to the mark. CHORE left me with just 73 remaining words, but SMITH only cut that down to 8. That’s not great. I was worried at this point that it would be an USH word, and I could think of several, so I went with BLUSH. Fortunately, the U was ruled out and only one possible solution remained: FLASH. As in, the fastest man alive!
Competitive Wordle Score
I get -1 point for guessing in four and -1 for losing to the Bot, who took three tries today. That’s -2 x 2 for 2XP Friday = -4 points. Yikes!
How To Play Competitive Wordle
- Guessing in 1 is worth 3 points; guessing in 2 is worth 2 points; guessing in 3 is worth 1 point; guessing in 4 is worth 0 points; guessing in 5 is -1 points; guessing in 6 is -2 points and missing the Wordle is -3 points.
- If you beat your opponent you get 1 point. If you tie, you get 0 points. And if you lose to your opponent, you get -1 point. Add it up to get your score. Keep a daily running score or just play for a new score each day.
- Fridays are 2XP, meaning you double your points—positive or negative.
- You can keep a running tally or just play day-by-day. Enjoy!
Today’s Wordle Etymology
The word flash originates from Middle English, where it appeared as flasshen or flasschen, meaning “to splash or dash about.” Its roots can be traced back to Old Norse flasa, meaning “to blaze up” or “burst out,” and it is related to flæsa, meaning “to blaze.” The word evolved to describe a sudden burst of light, energy, or movement, likely influenced by the notion of something quick or momentary.
