Well it’s the last lazy Sunday of 2024 and I am all for making good use of it. Order takeout. Watch one of the new shows or movies that are out this weekend. Give into your laziness and skip out on the chores. It’s still the holiday season, after all. All the tasks can wait until Monday. Then it’s all preparation for New Year’s Eve and whatever fun festivities you have planned.
And, of course, we have a Wordle to solve. Let’s solve it!

Wordle Analysis
Every day I check Wordle Bot to help analyze my guessing game. You can check your Wordles with Wordle Bot right here.
PLANE is normally a pretty good starting guess, but today it let me down. With 200 remaining possible solutions and one meager yellow box, I had many words to cut. I’m not sure if TAROT was the best choice, but it did slash that number down to just 5, and secured a green box and a second vowel. MACHO removed every possible solution but one: MAMBO for the win!
Competitive Wordle Score
A total wash today. 0 points for guessing in four and 0 for tying the Bot. Zeroes all around.
How To Play Competitive Wordle
- Guessing in 1 is worth 3 points; guessing in 2 is worth 2 points; guessing in 3 is worth 1 point; guessing in 4 is worth 0 points; guessing in 5 is -1 points; guessing in 6 is -2 points and missing the Wordle is -3 points.
- If you beat your opponent you get 1 point. If you tie, you get 0 points. And if you lose to your opponent, you get -1 point. Add it up to get your score. Keep a daily running score or just play for a new score each day.
- Fridays are 2XP, meaning you double your points—positive or negative.
- You can keep a running tally or just play day-by-day. Enjoy!
Today’s Wordle Etymology
The word “mambo” originates from the Kikongo language of Central Africa, where “mambo” means “conversation” or “word.” It was brought to the Caribbean through the African diaspora, blending into Afro-Cuban culture. In Cuban music, mambo evolved to describe a musical style and dance that emerged in the 1940s, characterized by syncopated rhythms and energetic movements.
