The WrestleMania Day 1 and Day 2 lineups are likely finalized. It appears we will have 13 scheduled matches with eight championships on the line over two glorious days of professional wrestling.
WWE is cooking in a way that is unlike any other era. I’m not saying better, though it’s certainly not bad, but definitely different.
Here is a breakdown of what we expect is the full card at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas on April 19-20. I’ve also dropped in the latest word on each match to get you up to speed.
Night One Card (April 19)
Triple Threat: Seth Rollins vs. Roman Reigns vs. CM Punk
The three icons have done an excellent job adding some juice to the Day 1 main event. No one feels slighted that a title won’t be on the line in a WrestleMania main event. With Rollins, Reigns, and Punk set to clash with the extra added flavor of Paul Heyman’s managerial allegiance as a layer, the headliner is solid.
World Heavyweight Championship: Gunther (c) vs. Jey Uso
Are you getting the feeling that Jey Uso is about to win the World Heavyweight Championship? Yeah, me too. Gunther destroying Jimmy Uso a couple of weeks ago and WWE playing off Jey’s botch last month almost has me convinced.
WWE Women’s Championship: Tiffany Stratton (c) vs. Charlotte Flair
I have no idea how Charlotte recovers from the chaos in Chicago, but as it is, Stratton almost has to go over to prevent a riot.
World Tag Team Championship: War Raiders (c) vs. The New Day
I need something to happen here to make us care. Historically, we should care, and if the New Day’s heel turn had been handled better, we might. If the War Raiders didn’t seem like guys lost somewhere between Asgard and Charming, California, we might have something to cling to here. I hope I’m surprised and this isn’t the bathroom-break match.
United States Championship: LA Knight (c) vs. Jacob Fatu
Did I really love LA Knight when he dropped the Maximum Male Models gimmick? Yeah!
Was I rooting for him to win Money in the Bank in 2024? Yeah!
Is it absolutely positively time for him to drop the US title–especially to a meteoric star like Jacob Fatu? Yeah!
Rey Mysterio vs. El Grande Americano
I’m really excited about this match. I hope everyone has been appreciating the work that Chad Gable has done over the past few years. His stint as El Grande Americano is the stuff of legend, and I don’t know about you, but I’d love to see him go over against Mysterio—clean.
Jade Cargill vs. Naomi
This feud has been excellent because Jade and Naomi have been outstanding. Bianca has been separated from the primary focus, and Jade and Naomi have continued to shine. I’m excited for this one.
Hopefully, Naomi gets her due—even if she doesn’t win.
Here is a look at the Night 2 card, which will culminate with the Undisputed WWE Championship match between Cody Rhodes and John Cena.
Night Two Card (April 20)
WWE Championship: Cody Rhodes (c) vs. John Cena
There is nothing more to say about this one. Both men have done arguably the most stellar job on the mic we’ve ever seen leading up to a WrestleMania main event. The only question here is how do they make sure the match lives up to the enormous hype?
WWE Women’s World Championship – Triple Threat – Iyo Sky (c) vs. Rhea Ripley vs. Bianca Belair
This championship match could be a sneaky hit for the weekend. There is the perfect formula for a great triple threat. We have athletic performers; two powerhouses and one small high-flyer.
Iyo probably goes over, though I think it would be better for Bianca to reclaim the title. It would give place for a high-stakes feud between her and Jade Cargill.
Women’s Tag Team Championship: Liv Morgan & Raquel Rodriguez (c) vs. Bayley & Lyra Valkyria
I have no idea how the Women’s Intercontinental Champion winds up in a tag team title match, but here we are. Liv is a superstar, so she needs to be involved in some way, shape, or form. This is just an odd matchup.
Intercontinental Championship – Fatal 4 Way – Bron Breakker (c) vs. Dominik Mysterio vs. Penta vs. Finn Bálor
From a pure excitement standpoint, this might be the match of the weekend. Every single performer in this match is way above average, and I have a feeling Bron Breakker is going to do something that goes viral.
That said, I wouldn’t be shocked if Dominik Mysterio wins the title and is launched into a vicious and highly entertaining beef with Finn and Bron.
Sin City Street Fight: Damian Priest vs. Drew McIntyre
Drew McIntyre is doing his best to make this feud entertaining. Like Gable, he’s been at his best over the past couple of years. WWE is looking to sell this one on pure brutality. It may work, but I’m very skeptical.
AJ Styles vs. Logan Paul
Styles seems so disinterested in this feud. He looks like he’s walking through the motions in promos, and to be expected, the in-ring work is a bit rusty. In any case, Paul is an entertainer, and Styles is a pure professional.
On the biggest stage, I believe Styles will come to play—or maybe that’s just what I want to believe.
