New NorCal Costco in Vallejo to open this fall amid US expansion

California can’t get enough of Costco.

The wildly-popular warehouse club is continuing its nationwide expansion — with yet another new location coming soon to the Golden State.

A social media video shows the construction of a new Costco store in the NorCal city of Vallejo — set to open in November.

The news comes as rival big-box store Sam’s Club makes moves to expand its California footprint — with the first of more new locations opening recently in Lathrop, near Stockton in the San Joaquin Valley.

Costco already operates a store in Vallejo, which will be replaced by its new, larger location.

Local fans celebrated the upcoming opening on social media.

“Vallejo can use any sort of upgrade,” one commenter wrote of the embattled Bay Area burg.

“It’s good because the old one had limited parking,” said another commenter.

Some were skeptical about the November opening timeline based on current progress.

“It’s a great thing for Vallejo but no way will it even open this year. Construction has so much left to do on exterior alone not to mention putting up interior racks, freezers, etc,” said one commenter.

“Ain’t no way they finish that in a month or 2,” said another.

The new store comes as Costco prepares to open a massive new location in Camarillo, California on October 30.

Costco confirmed the opening Vallejo location in their latest earnings call earlier this week.

The bulk seller plans to open a total of 33 new stores in the 2027 fiscal year. Costco CEO Ron Vachris said the company plans to spend about $7.5 billion on the new locations.

The chain will open several other locations in October, including stores in Lee’s Summit, Missouri; The Colony, Texas; Amherst, New York and Lawrence, Kansas.

In November, Costco will open nine more locations, with U.S. stores in in South Meridian, Idaho; Chandler, Arizona; Newport News, Virginia and Franklin, Wisconsin.
