More job cuts are coming for Silicon Valley after the company behind a popular productivity app revealed plans to let go of a “large part” of its workforce.

Italian tech conglomerate Bending Spoons, the owner of Airtable, disclosed the move in an X post from Federico Simionato, a product leader at the parent company.

The cuts were a reflection of the company’s “deep belief that small teams ship more and better,” Simionato explained.

Bending Spoons product leader Federico Simionato disclosed impending job cuts at the tech conglomerate.

“To everyone leaving: thank you. If you’re hiring, these are excellent people and worth a call,” he said.

Bending Spoons acquired Airtable in August for $1.28 billion. The number of exact workers affected is not clear, and a company spokesperson told Business Insider that it was “not able to share additional details on the number of individuals impacted.”

The two companies have not filed any Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) layoff advisories with the California Employee Development Department, a state spokesperson confirmed.

Airtable is only the latest tech firm to cut workers en masse as the industry pivots to artificial intelligence.

Meta, Visa and Oracle are among the California tech firms to cut jobs this year.

Oracle, for instance, already has eliminated more than 21,000 full-time jobs — roughly 13% of its global workforce — citing AI as a reason.

The Airtable employees affected by the job cuts will receive “substantial separation packages,” according to a blog post.

“The adoption and deployment of AI technologies across our operations have resulted, and may continue to result, in reductions to our workforce,” the company said earlier this year.

Just this month, Workday revealed it intends to shed 142 workers on Nov. 30 at its corporate headquarters in Pleasanton.

Bay Area tech industry layoffs in 2026 have already topped the total for all of 2025, the Bay Area News Group reported, with over 14,000 jobs cut. By comparison, there were 10,170 cuts in 2025.

However, the pace of tech layoffs seems to have slowed down this year. There were 3,043 cuts planned in the third quarter of this year, down from nearly 8,000 in the second quarter.

The Airtable employees affected by the job cuts will receive “substantial separation packages,” according to a company blog post.

Bending Spoons plans to focus on improving Airtable’s core platform and investing in AI features.
