ABBA officially called it quits in 2022 after releasing its final album, Voyage. That set arrived 40 years after The Visitors, which had previously served as the Swedish pop band’s last full-length. Since then, the outfit’s music can be heard not only on streaming platforms and on the radio, but in media projects like Mamma Mia! (both films and the theatrical musical) and at its hologram show in London.

ABBA often finds space on charts in major markets with Gold: Greatest Hits, the massively successful compilation that features many of its best-known songs. From time to time, one of the smashes featured on that set may also reach a Billboard ranking, though more often than not, it is Gold that keeps the Grammy-nominated group present on various lists instead of the individual tunes featured on its track list.

This week, ABBA collects a new hit on one of the company’s most competitive rosters with a single that is nearly half a century old.

ABBA Debuts “The Winner Takes It All”

“The Winner Takes It All” debuts on the Billboard Global Excl. U.S., which lists the most-consumed songs throughout the world outside the United States using plays on streaming sites and sales. The ABBA classic barely reaches the 200-position tally, where it launches at No. 198.

ABBA Scores Its Sixth Global Hit

“The Winner Takes It All” becomes ABBA’s sixth career placement on Billboard Global Excl. U.S. It also stands as the band’s lowest-peaking entry on the ranking, at least for the moment.

That distinction – not quite an honor – previously belonged to “Gimme! Gimme! Gimme! (A Man After Midnight).” The dance-pop favorite spent one week on the roster at No. 187 earlier this year, which turned out to be its peak.

ABBA Has Charted New Hits in Only Two Different Years

ABBA has racked up half a dozen hits on Billboard Global Excl. U.S., but all six of those appearances have come to the group in only two distinct years. In September 2021, three tracks by the band debuted at the same time. “Don’t Shut Me Down,” “I Still Have Faith in You” and “Dancing Queen” all reached the roster during the same frame.

A few months later, “When You Danced With Me” gave ABBA another win. The band then went several years without adding to its total before “Gimme! Gimme! Gimme! (A Man After Midnight)” arrived earlier in 2026.

Three ABBA Songs Have Reached Both Global Rankings

Only half of the ABBA tracks that have appeared on Billboard Global Excl. U.S. have also found space on the Billboard Global 200, which includes consumption from the U.S. alongside sales and streams from music fans around the rest of the world.

“Don’t Shut Me Down,” “I Still Have Faith in You” and “Dancing Queen” have all reached both worldwide rosters. Those songs climbed as high as Nos. 54, 62 and 152 on the Billboard Global 200, respectively.

ABBA Charts Gold: Greatest Hits on Multiple Billboard Lists

ABBA appears on twice as many rankings in the U.S. with Gold: Greatest Hits. The compilation remains present on both the Billboard 200 and the Top Dance Albums chart this week. Gold: Greatest Hits rises four spaces from No. 85 to No. 81 on the Billboard 200, where the collection has previously climbed as high as No. 25.

The project performs much better on the Top Dance Albums chart, where it holds at No. 3. Gold: Greatest Hits has already conquered that genre-specific roster, which Madonna controls again with her latest, Confessions II.
