After months of waiting it seems that the Dota 2 Crownfall patch will launch tomorrow, April 17, with a couple of theories seemingly coming true.

The main factor in people thinking the release date is coming tomorrow is that Dota 2 caster Robson “TeaGuvnor” Merritt has announced the start of his waiting room stream. It kicks off on April 17 at 1 pm BST, and he will be farming mangoes in a custom-built Dota 2-themed Stardew Valley farm until the patch releases.

While TeaGuvnor has a history of doing long endurance streams while waiting for a patch, it’s rare that he goes over the 24-hour mark, and he always seems to be accurate when it comes to starting on the right day of the patch. So, if history is anything to go by, we can expect the patch before everyone wakes up on Thursday morning.

The other factor that adds weight to the idea that the Dota 2 Crownfall update will be released tomorrow is that it is World Circus Day. With any other patch, this would just be a coincidence, but the new Dota 2 hero Ringmaster is clearly a fan of the circus and releasing him on World Circus Day feels very fitting.

In terms of exactly when the patch will be released, we only have past history to go on. Typically patches are released in the evening Eastern time, but with the timing lining up with World Circus Day there may be a chance it releases slightly earlier in the day, as you would hope Valve would have everything prepared well in advance.

Of course, we could be in for a slightly longer wait, as many people predicted April 18 as the release date thanks to many of the recent patches launching on a Thursday. However, the synergy with World Circus Day seems too good to pass up, so tomorrow seems much more likely.

The Crownfall patch for Dota 2 is expected to be the biggest in a year, bringing with it the new hero Ringmaster, some fancy new cosmetics including arcanas, and a whole host of balance and map changes to shake the game up. We haven’t had a truly massive patch in months, so it is about time that Dota gets some sweeping changes, with many fans expecting this patch to change every hero in one way or another and introduce some new mechanics like the 7.33 patch did last year.
