We are now in the tail end of Daredevil: Born Again season 2, a season that has produced some of the best MCU episodes in Disney Plus or Netflix or ABC history (it’s been quite the ride over the years). But the show is laughably lax when it comes to protecting future plotlines for the show, and that’s now happened for a second time when it comes to Daredevil: Born Again season 3. Obviously, spoilers follow.
Previously, it was leaked that Mike Colter and Finn Jones would return as Luke Cage and Iron Fist for season 3, a leak so wide in scope there were actually official Getty Images of them on set, with no comment from the show or Marvel about their addition.
Now? We know another character coming to season 3. Or a transformed character, at least. That would be Heather Glenn, spotted in literal 4K on set in a full Lady Muse getup, the female version of the serial killer she dispatched in season 1, who has been haunting her ever since. You can see those images here, which are now being spread far and wide on social media.
While we know that things have leaned in this direction this season, now it’s just outright confirmed that’s where we’re going next, though it raises questions about how this adaptation is going to be handled, based on the source material. From a previous piece I wrote when this was just speculation:
“In the comics, a girl named Morgan Whittier was a young artist whose soul went to hell and met Muse. Muse began communicating with her, appearing as a voice to her and later, a literal ghost-like visible figure. His influence spreads throughout her vulnerable mind, and eventually, she is convinced to kill her tutor. She then goes full Muse and uses his body parts to make a sculpture of Elektra in her Daredevil suit (a whole other plotline going on then). Eventually, she actually starts donning a Muse-like costume, kidnaps and kills a classmate, but then is ultimately killed by Elektra after a confrontation.”
What appears to be happening is a street-level “grounded” version of this storyline. Muse was not shown to have any supernatural powers at any point; he was just (somewhat inexplicably) good at fighting. Though not that good, as he ended up being shot and killed by a civilian.
Muse is not speaking to Glenn here from hell, she is just having a mental breakdown, haunted by the trauma of what happened, clearly leading toward some sort of violent breakdown.
As for this Elektra bit? Who knows. We know the character is on a “wishlist” for the series, though that’s the kind of thing you might say if she were already involved. And if she is, that will probably leak from the set soon as well, as we saw with Daredevil’s new suit, Jessica Jones returning and now Luke Cage and Iron Fist before this.
One open question here is that there is nothing in a grounded version of this storyline that should give Glenn the ability to fight, supernaturally aided or otherwise. She would have to be some sort of “in the shadows” style serial killer, as a direct confrontation with Daredevil, or anyone really, would take her out. Unless the show has some sort of unseen trick up its sleeve here. I suppose we do have a character with a magic power-giving amulet rolling around too, right now. We’ll see. Or set pics will show us.
