Stockholm-based audio company Atonemo has joined with global platform NTS Radio to release the Atonemo NTS Radio Player, a compact Wi-Fi streamer that brings NTS’s curated channels and infinite mixtapes to virtually any speaker or amplifier ever made.
The new device is based on the idea that sometimes the best listening experience is one where you hand over control to someone else. It’s one of the reasons why radio it still a popular medium even with the competition from TV. It’s nice to have someone else choose and introduce you to new music or old favorites in much the same way as it’s far nicer to be cooked for by someone else.
The Atonemo NTS Radio Player plugs in to an audio setup or active speaker. The user presses the play button and NTS’s global programming takes over. Choices range from a deep-cut jazz set from Tokyo, a DJ mix from South London or a genre-defying selection from anywhere in between. When you’re ready to take back the wheel, you can pick up your smartphone and stream whatever you want from your own music collection or streaming service.
New Life into Audio
The NTS Radio Player follows on from the recent launch of Atonemo’s Streamplayer and is designed to work with almost any audio hardware from the last few decades. The device has a 3.5mm analog output for connecting to vintage amplifiers, bookshelf speakers or last month’s thrift store find just as easily as a modern hi-fi setup. Measuring just 70 x 105 x 23mm, the NTS Radio Player can be hidden away.
With support for digital audio services up to 24-bit/192kHz playback, the NTS Radio Player works with AirPlay 2, Google Cast, Spotify Connect and Tidal Connect, covering most major streaming systems without friction. Setting up the player takes a matter of minutes. All it needs is a USB-C power input using the included USB cable and the RCA-to-AUX cable for connection to the audio system.
Collaboration With Shared Philosophy
The collaboration between NTS and Atonemo is grounded in a shared philosophy. NTS has spent more than a decade broadcasting music from every corner of the world, giving a platform and permanence to sounds that don’t often surface on algorithmic streaming services. Atonemo was founded on the belief that the best way to experience music is through the speakers people already own and love, not the ones they’re sold.
“We think of this as omakase listening: you hand over the decision to someone whose taste you trust, and you get something better than anything you’d have chosen yourself. NTS has been doing that for over a decade. We just wanted to make sure you could hear it on speakers worthy of the music,” says Noah Constantinou, co-founder of Atonemo
