B2K Returns With Its First Radio Hit In Two Decades

Next month, B2K will release its first new album in more than two decades. The R&B and pop boy band delivered three full-lengths in the span of only about a year, and then quickly separated after a very short but successful run on the charts.

The singers reunited recently and have a new album, Eclipse, slated to drop September 25. So far, just one single, “Mileage,” has been released from the forthcoming set, and this week, as it debuts on one roster in America, it brings B2K its first radio win in decades.

B2K Returns to a Billboard Radio Chart After Decades

“Mileage” debuts at No. 38 on the Mainstream R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay chart. The ranking tracks the songs that receive the most plays via mainstream R&B and hip-hop radio stations throughout the United States. The launch marks B2K’s first appearance on the roster in more than two decades.

B2K Scores Its Seventh Career Hit

“Mileage” earns B2K its seventh career placement on the Mainstream R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay chart. It is the group’s first song to land on the ranking since “Bada Boom” with Fabolous, which arrived in January 2004.

That cut only ever rose as high as No. 33. For the moment, “Mileage” stands out as B2K’s only one-week charter and its lowest-peaking hit, trailing “Bada Boom” by five spaces, but the song is just getting started.

B2K Has Charted a Pair of Top 10 Hits

B2K claims a pair of top 10s on the Mainstream R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay ranking. “Bump, Bump, Bump” with P. Diddy – perhaps the group’s signature track – spent four weeks at No. 1 beginning in January 2003. The year prior, “Gots Ta Be” debuted in April, and by June it had climbed to its No. 7 high.

B2K Claims One of Only Two Debuts This Week

B2K scores one of only two debuts on this week’s 40-space Mainstream R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay chart. Cardi B’s “AH HA” is the other new arrival, and it trails “Mileage,” landing in last place at No. 40. The rapper collects her thirty-seventh career placement on the tally as her latest single opens on this – and many other – Billboard tally.

B2K Member Omarion Also Appears on a Billboard Chart

At the same time that B2K returns to the charts, one of the four singers in the group, Omarion, appears on a different tally as a soloist. His single “The One” declines eight spaces to No. 28 on the Adult R&B Airplay chart, where it peaked at No. 12 earlier this month. When “The One” lifted to that space, it became Omarion’s highest-charting solo hit on the roster and one of only two to break into the top 20.
