BTS Fans Send A Beloved Non-Single Back To The Charts — And A New Peak

After the Recording Academy decided to introduce a Best Asian Pop Music Performance category for the 2027 awards, many predicted that BTS would finally score a trophy after years of nominations with no wins. However, the boy band recently announced that it will not be submitting any of its eligible works for consideration in protest of the new vertical, which some critics — and apparently the chart-topping group itself — feel is limiting.

In response to BTS’s protest, fans of the boy band – known collectively as ARMY – banded together to purchase one track. “Aliens” returns to multiple Billboard rankings this week and establishes a new high point on one competitive roster thanks to the support of thousands across the United States.

BTS’s ‘Aliens’ Reaches a New Sales Peak

“Aliens” returns to the Digital Song Sales chart this week, where it breaks back in at No. 4. The ranking lists the bestselling individual songs via download storefronts throughout the U.S. That position marks a new peak for “Aliens,” and the tune pushes higher than ever in only its second appearance on the tally.

BTS Has Five No. 4-Peaking Hits

“Aliens” becomes one of five tracks by BTS to peak at No. 4 on the Digital Song Sales ranking. The tune joins “MIC Drop” with Desiigner, “Filter,” “Telepathy” and “For Youth,” all of which also climbed all the way to fourth place without surging any higher.

BTS Has Collected 15 No. 1 Smashes

BTS claims one of the most impressive collections of champions in the history of the Digital Song Sales tally. The band has seen 15 tracks fly all the way to No. 1. The seven singers are currently tied with Drake for the third-most leaders of all time. Taylor Swift and Nicki Minaj rule the historic ranking with 31 and 17 champions, respectively.

Here are all of BTS’s No. 1 hits on the Digital Song Sales chart.

  • “Bad Decisions” with Benny Blanco and Snoop Dogg
  • “Butter”
  • “Come Over”
  • “Dynamite”
  • “Fake Love”
  • “Film Out”
  • “Idol” with Nicki Minaj
  • “Life Goes On”
  • “My Universe” with Coldplay
  • “Normal”
  • “On”
  • “Permission to Dance”
  • “Swim”
  • “Take Two”
  • “Yet to Come”

Morgan Wallen Outsells BTS This Week – Twice

While “Aliens” sits only a few rungs beneath the Digital Song Sales chart’s throne, it was not a close race for first place. Morgan Wallen scores another leader this time around with “Been By Now.”

According to Luminate, the country cut starts at No. 1 with approximately 12,500 purchases. “Aliens,” meanwhile, sold about 3,400 copies during the same tracking period – only around one-third of what Wallen’s latest managed.

BTS Claims Two Top Five Sales Hits This Week

BTS fills two spaces inside the top five on this week’s Digital Song Sales chart. As “Aliens” reenters at No. 4, “Normal” remains even higher at No. 2.

BTS Returns to Both Global Rankings

“Aliens” also reappears on both of Billboard’s worldwide tallies. The song returns to Nos. 94 and 156 on the Billboard Global Excl. U.S. and the Billboard Global 200, respectively. The song, released earlier this year on BTS’s comeback set Arirang, previously peaked at No. 6 on both rosters.
