CJ ENM’s Korean Rom-Com ‘My Bias, My Boss’ Tops Global Weekly Charts

CJ ENM’s latest romantic comedy K-drama, My Bias, My Boss, is halfway through its season and has been going strong in the global charts!

Since its premiere, My Bias, My Boss has gained momentum domestically and among international audiences. On its global streaming platform, Rakuten Viki, the series debuted in the Top 3 series Weekly Charts across North and South America, Europe, Oceania, the Middle East and North Africa (MENA), and India. In Japan, the series ranked in the Top 5 in U-NEXT’s Korean/Asian category, while the series reached the Top 7 on Prime Video India, according to FlixPatrol.

Produced by Studio Dragon, My Bias, My Boss follows Nam Da-reum (Kim Hye-jun), a new employee at the fashion platform company APPELLO, which is co-owned by Lee Chan (Cha Woo-min), an idol-turned-actor who is a superfan of Da-reum. As part of the fandom, she credits Chan and his group D.N.X. for helping her cope with loneliness and shaping who she is today. She tries to hide her fandom to prove that she can be successful in this marketing job, so she is assigned to work with the other co-owner (and Chan’s childhood best friend), Kang Ha-gi (Kang Hoon), a very strict and workaholic CEO. He suspects she’s in the job for other reasons, but can’t seem to figure it out. Set against the fast-paced startup work environment, the series is filled with hilarious and awkward moments that do cause some romantic confusion – and definitely a complicated love triangle.

“We are genuinely grateful for all the love and support that global fans have shown for My Bias, My Boss,” said Park Sung-eun, chief producer of My Bias, My Boss at Studio Dragon, in a press release. “We hope this series can be a small gift to fans around the world who love both K-Pop and K-Dramas.”

The K-pop idol genre has done well in Korean storytelling, as viewers use dramas as a form of escapism – and even community. This genre centers on the dream of a K-pop fan working for her ultimate bias, something that viewers, and K-pop fans, feel strongly about. According to the My Bias, My Boss’ press release, the series “further enhances its universal appeal by embracing beloved rom-com tropes, including the classic “enemies-to-lovers” dynamic and an irresistible love triangle, offering viewers a fun and immersive escape from the pressures of everyday life.”

Actual K-pop idols are also featured in the series, including Yuna of ITZY and Jiho, a former member of OH MY GIRL, adding another layer of authenticity to the story.

“As a hub of K-Culture, CJ ENM will continue to strive to deliver the beauty and diversity of Korean culture to global fans through diverse and cross-functional initiatives,” said Sebastian Kim, Head of CJ ENM’s Content Business Unit. “We hope international fans will continue to look forward to the exciting content and experiences we have in store.”

My Bias, My Boss airs weekly on tvN in Korea every Monday and Tuesday at 8:50 pm until September 8. It is available on Rakuten Viki in North and South America, Europe, the Middle East and North Africa, Oceania, and India; Prime Video in India; on U-NEXT in Japan; and on HBO Max across 18 countries/regions in Asia Pacific.
